Among the Matsigenka

South America, Part 6: Among the Matsigenka. A South American journey into the unexplored legends of lost cities and forgotten people. In this episode we travel up the Madre de Dios River into the Palotoa River and visit the Native Matsigenka village of Palotoa-Teparo. The village itself is situated within the Cultural Zone of Manú National Park. We briefly ate local cuisine with a family and later went to meet an elder revered as a shaman. During the night we were told the legend of the Chullachaki, the malicious spirit of the forest.
